Our first album was released in March 1980, and it was actually recorded in just three days. Look at the pictures. HEARTBREAK: "I hetaste laget" (Wave) Has Reeperbahn started up a music school? Not likely. But as a matter of fact Heartbreak, who used to be Heartbreak Hotel, sounds a bit like Reeperbahn. This is probably due to a common musical taste, which of course results in melodic songs with a lot of, la-la-la in the back-up vocal harmonies, and wild, chopping and sometimes quite mean guitars.
Heartbreak is a great band, but sometimes lacks a bit of Reeperbahns more insight way of writing lyrics. However Peter Fatale does succeed with the song "Stand-in" (which is a grand song), but in other cases gives us a rather stale and strange view of women and moral, a view in which sexual active women sometimes are referred to as hookers. And his way of writing about the clichés of the rock n roll life style, whiskey and parties, are quite tiresome. Otherwise it’s swinging and high-flying rock n roll music, almost as good as The Radio, the guitar sound is eminent and the harmonies in the vocal department are filled with fiery passion. MATS OLSSON/EXPRESSEN 1980 A warm and fun debut. Heartbreak "I Hetaste laget" The prospect of 1980 as a good year in music seems to come true. New releases from Hanson Wolf United, Raj Montana Band, The Radio and now the debut-album from Heartbreak, a band hailing from Eskilstuna, filled with warm, fun and enjoyable pop music. The band strife hard to write good songs filled with nice melodies and catchy choruses. The production and arrangement brings out the noisy guitars, and by the way Peter Fatale is an excellent singer. Songs like: "Gör vad du vill" and "Stand in" are among the best I’ve heard in a long time from a Swedish band. 	Just six month after the release of our first album; we were back with our 2:nd LP, just in time for the Christmas sale. Like the first album we also got good reviews on this one. Heartbreak - New enjoyable Swedish POP. Heartbreak "Ung & gjord av glas" (Wave) The first thing that comes to mind when somebody mentions Swedish Pop, is Sonets Medium Play records, with its forerunners, Docent Död. But the Docs debut album did not captured the high expectations of their first MP record.
Heartbreak does not have an equally cool name as their counterparts at Stockholm’s record plant. The cover of  "Ung och gjord av glas" could easily have been the cover of a Swedish dance band. But when it comes down to the music, then I bet my money on Heartbreak. They have a genuine way of making fantastic hit-songs. There’s a lot of the Beatles and a tons of Mearsybeat, but instead of racing down the speedy lane, they treasure this pop heritage the same way as American bands like; The Raspberries and Big Star. Melodic pop, with greats vocals and neat melodies. Heartbreak plays pop music like punk never happened, and this is positive criticism. The Searchers-riffs of "Jag är inte kär" are as safe as houses; this song begs to become the next single. In all, very few weak tunes, but some of the lyrics would have done better with a little re-work. OLLE BERGGREN/KVÄLLSPOSTEN Nov 80 Eskilstunas Rockpile - gives it all. The Rockpile of Eskilstuna are back with their second album this year. The band has toured a lot and has become a great live-act; this time around they have kept their energetic live sound all the way to the studio. You can’t accuse Heartbreak of breaking new musical ground, and I still have difficulties with Peter Fatales lyrics. The thieving of Beatles harmonies and the jingling Records guitars in "I hetaste laget" and "Det är inte min stil" are a bit brazenly. But these are only minor complaints. Because Heartbreak’s music works very well. From the foundation of the 60´s pop music they create glimmering songs like "Ung och gjord av glas" and "Älskar aldrig mer", the production and arrangement are foolproof and as a bonus we get a Swedish translation of the Rockpile song "Down, down, down". Our story begins back in -74 when Håkan, Peter and Tommy where band mates in a group called Inferno, who made their first appearance at the yearly Eskilstuna music festival. Infernos musical influences varied from The Velvet Underground to Iggy Pop and David Bowie. In addition the band wrote own material. In 1976 the group changed name to Heartbreak Hotel, transformed their sound, and became more "poppy". At a gig in Stockholm, record boss Ola Håkansson, saw the band and a deal was soon signed. This record deal resulted in a single and two songs on a compilation album, "Swedish Tracks -79". Later on, Heartbreak Hotel and two other acts from this compilation toured all over Sweden. The single "Ride in the city", got an honor full fourth chart positions in the radio show Europatoppen. In 1979 Micke became the new guitar player in Heartbreak and a few month later the band recorded their first album "I hetaste laget". An album which included songs like; "Gör varu vill", "Du tänder på pojkar men älskar med män" och "Stand in". Today this piece of vinyl is a collector’s item. At the end of 1980 Heartbreak performed 2 songs on national TV, on the show "Måndagsbörsen", this resulted in a big interview in one of Sweden’s leading newspapers. The second LP was released in 1980 and the band got nicknamed "The Rockpile of Eskilstuna", the record got good reviews from all the leading papers. But sales didn’t actually go through the roof, but on the contrary the band got a lot of gigs in the Swedish Folkparks and other places like; discos, sport arenas and smaller clubs. Heartbreak also got reviews like; "Catchy and swinging pop with a 60´s touch". The band also did three tours in Finland, so the Finnish band Hanoi Rocks felt obligated to nick one of their tunes and record it as their own. Most of 1981 Heartbreak spent on tour, with a fairly big production, along with the roadies ABBA-Hasse and Lelle Morderne. Last year (1982) Heartbreak mostly rehearsed and wrote new songs, played a few minor gigs changed record company and released two singles "Rösten i radio" and "Min tjej viker ut sig i fibban". They also spent four weeks to record this new album WOW. So will 1983 become the year of Heartbreak? It’s up to WOW to show the bands potential, the album includes their first ever ballad, "Drömmer är över" a song about the assassination of John Lennon, along with "Popmusik" a statement from the band. "Konsten att slå ihjäl tid", "Jag längtar hem", "Pojkar älskar siffror", "Sista skriket" and other great songs.
